About Peachtree Street
One of America's best known streets, Peachtree winds north from downtown Atlanta through the heart of Buckhead, closely following the Chattahoochee ridge route of the Indian-era Peachtree Trail. Downtown, it's Peachtree Street, but after it merges with West Peachtree and heads north, it becomes Peachtree Road.
Officially, the change occurs in the 1800 block, just north of the Brookwood rail station: Huey's, at 1816, is the last Peachtree Street address and the Peachtree Palisades building, at 1819, is the first Peachtree Road address.
Only the Randolph-Lucas House at 2494 Peachtree offers a trace of that era. The red brick Georgian Revival home, at the intersection of Peachtree and Lindbergh Drive, was built by a great-great grandson of Thomas Jefferson.
